Why You Must Not Build Links To Your 1 Day Blog Immediately

Link building is important I understand. The more high quality links you have, the better you rank in search engines especially Google, but do you know that even high quality links can harm your site’s presence in search engines. You can be punished or penalized for life! Have you ever thought about this? This happens especially when you launch a new blog and start building links to it from the very first day.
Why You Must Not Build Links To Your 1 Day Blog Immediately

Now why is this a bad practice?

After you’ve started a blog, it takes time for it to get indexed in Google and once it indexed in it, that’s the first day of your site in Google and Google is well aware of this.

Hardly any one-day site starts getting links from the very first day. And Google knows this too. So if Google notices that you’ve been linked from the very first day, it may penalize your blog “badly”, I repeat badly!

A new blog, is like a newly married couple which needs some time to settle down. Then you build links towards your very new blog, there’s a risk for it to come under Google’s sharp eyes which don’t give a damn to your site and how good its content is, if it’s new and it gets links immediately, it will surely not do any good to it!

Now what does this mean?

This definitely does not mean that you shouldn’t promote your blog. Promote your blog, but not with the aim of building links. Don’t aim for dofollow links. Actually avoid promoting your site where you’ll get dofollow backlinks. Instead promote your website somewhere from where you can get a nofollow backlink or backlinks.

For instance, you can submit your blog to StumbleUpon and Reddit and Digg too to gain a few nofollow backlinks. But don’t build a lot of them. 2-3 are sufficient for the first day.

Once your blog is a week old and you have some good posts on board, build some more links. Always diversify your keywords. Never build too many backlinks for the same keyword, it simply harms and it harms more if your blog is new.

Isn’t this too slow?

Why You Must Not Build Links To Your 1 Day Blog Immediately
Well, yes it’s slow or actually very slow, but if you want your blog to last long and flourish, this is the way to begin. I hope you’ve heard about “Patience Pays”. Patience will pay you one day and who’s asking you to maintain the same frequency for life? As days pass, increase the number of links you build to your blog.

At beginning level we should not rush for getting links. If anyone did he might get penalized for sure. Btw thanks for dropping the comment Byran.

    Hi,
It’s a nice and informative post.
I too started a blog some months ago but luckily, I haven’t started building links from the first day. But it wasn’t because I did knew this truth mentioned by you above in the article but because I was having no time for it.
Thanks to you, now I know the reason and consequence of building links in a slow pace.
Of course, the story we heard as children is true: “You might be slow but should be consistent to win the race!”
    Thanks!
