WordPress 3.8 Named Parker Is Available For Download
Today an update to WordPress (version 3.8) has been released and named it Parker in honor of Charlie Parker who was a highly influential jazz soloist and a leading figure in the development of bebop. This WordPress update highly concentrate on the admin dashboard design and other features.
The major highlights of the new version are as follows:
1) Admin Color Schemes:
This time WordPress got a beautiful update with 8 new admin color schemes where you can choose the best among them and apply with a single click. The color schemes can be previewed from the user profile page.
2) Introducing Twenty Fourteen Theme:
As already the countdown of days began for the New Year, WordPress has introduced a new default theme Twenty Fourteen which makes gives flexible access for the user to navigate the webpage. The impressive features of the Twenty Fourteen are featured posts on homepage can be arranged in grid view or as a slider without any plugin. In fact the default theme is very responsive and it allows to create a magazine website implementing the advanced designs.
3) Improved Widgets:
The default theme provides 3 widgets Primary Sidebar, Content Sidebar and Footer Widget Area to customize the blog.
4) Clean typography:
The Open Sans typeface provides simple, friendly text that is optimized for both desktop and mobile viewing. It’s even open source, just like WordPress.
Apart from the above listed features a few miscellaneous features are also added:
- External Libraries for Developers have been updated.
- New click-to-add interface for adding widgets to sidebars
- Improved Menus experience for mobile users
- Theme screenshots’ size have increased from 600 × 450 to 880 × 660.

The feature i like the most in the new update is the UI Design and the admin colors.
They are simple and neat. Its a pleasure for eyes to watch the wordpress dashboard in those colors.
Update was a nice one. When compared with the previous two. This is a much better one.
